She explicitly tells Dinah how she wishes that she had a world made of nonsense, and her wishes result in a dream, as we find out at the end. ![]() ![]() ![]() Alice does not want to cooperate, and she complains about how this world always has to make sense. Her sister is trying to impose their culture and civilization on Alice by making her pay attention to her history lesson. In the film, Alice has a more clearly defiant attitude toward the rules of the world. The book and the 1951 film approach the early scenes with Alice on Earth’s surface in a significantly different way.
